White Rose League 2009

On Saturday 12th September, 2 teams of swimmers from City of Sheffield Swim Squad travelled to Leeds to compete in the White Rose League. This squad was made up of a large range of swimmers from COSSS with representatives from all junior squads attending. Despite a large number of swimmers not having met before, and us missing a few of our fastest swimmers, it was great to see them being loud, supporting each other and showing huge amounts of team spirit. The swimmers looked fantastic in their red, black and white war paint!!!.

Throughout the gala, there were some fantastic performances from both COSSS teams, with a large number of PB's with 14 top 3 finishes. Well done also to the top 3 teams:-Borough of Kirklees, City of Leeds and Doncaster Dartes who all showed their depth at junior level. Good luck to Kirklees as they progress to the Northern final. Massive congratulations must also go to all swimmers competing in their very first gala for the club...and there were a large number! All coaches were very proud of the squads performance and happy at how hard the children worked on their skills.

Head Coach Russ Barber said "Well done to all swimmers at the White Rose gala. I was very impressed with the teams spirit and effort and I'm really happy at the large number of talented swimmers we have coming through. These junior galas are all about giving the youngsters racing experience, and letting them practice the skills we are teaching them, in order to be champions as they get older...the most important thing is that they had fun, and there seemed to be many happy faces everywhere I looked. Well done to all swimmers and especially to Dannii for organising the teams!!"

Overall a fantastic day was had by all, and we are all looking forwards now to next years event. Final points shown below.
