Update from Russ Barber September 2008

Welcome back to the new season. I hope you have had a good break and are feeling ready to tackle what I hope will be a very successful 2008/9 season for everybody at the club.

Last season was a sad time for us, with a number of coaches moving onto pastures new in such a short space of time. You may not be aware, but Steve Cox (Assistant Head Coach), has got the Head Coaches position in Middlesboro. I’m sure you will join with me in wishing him all the best in his new role, and thank him for all of the hard work and support he has given over the past 7 years.

It’s impossible to foresee these things, and I’d just like to offer a big thanks to all of the coaches that have rallied around, and made sure that training has remained of a good quality. I feel very lucky to have such a dedicated and loyal group of coaches supporting what we are doing here in Sheffield.

So that you are fully aware of what is going on, I am in the process of recruiting some new coaches, and I hope to have them in place shortly. In the mean time, can I ask you for your patience and support in getting through this difficult period.

I am concerned that communication may be affected in the next few months, as the usual methods that we use have been challenged with key personnel leaving, but we will absolutely do our best to keep things running smoothly, and if you have any questions, please contact me on russ.barber@sheffield.gov.uk or call me on 07837 371135.

Specifically, for swimmers in Junior National, JO1/2/3 and Junior Development, the Yorkshire entries are due in this week. If you have any queries or do not have the entry form, please get in touch and we will get it sorted for you.
