Age Group Winter Yorkshires 2008

City of Sheffield gained two Yorkshire Champions this week after a tough weekend of competition at Ponds Forge.

Nine year old Laurence Pickford won gold in the 50m Freestyle in 34.06 and two bronze medals in the 50m Butterfly in 40.86 and the 100m IM in 1.28.16. He also finished 5th in the 50m Breastroke and 10th in the 50m Backstroke. Eleven year old Dominic Baugh won gold in the 100m Backstroke in 1.15.19 and silver in the 100m Butterfly in 1.18.93. He also finished 10th in the 200m IM

Thirteen year old Tegan Turner-Clarke won silver in the 100m Fly 1.07.76 and bronze in the 100m Fc in 1.01.48. Tegan also made the final in 100 Bk and the 200m IM. A bronze medal was also won by Freya Mitchell, aged 11 in the 100m Freestyle. Freya also made the final in the 100m Backstroke, 100m Butterfly and 200m IM

Other Finalists included, Kate Field – 9 years 50m Fly, Robbie Burton – 9 years 50m Fly, 50m Fc, Amy Treslove – 10 years 100m Bk, Natalie Young – 10 years 100m Br, 100m Fly, Elizabeth Brook – 10 years 100m Fc, 100m Fly, 200 IM Jamie Damms – 10 years 50m Br, Alex Haines – 10 years 50m Fly, Sam Budd – 10 years 50m Bk, Annie Wood – 11 years 100m Br, Antonia Heseltine – 11 years 100m Fly, Joe Faulkner – 13 years 100m Fc, 100m Bk, Alex Watson – 13 years 100m Bk, Haydon Thorpe – 13 years 100m Fly, 200 IM Jessica Kendall – 13 years 100m Fc, Tom Walker – 14 years 100m Fly, 100m Bk, 100m Br, 100m Fc, 200 IM

In total, we won 2 Golds, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals and there were 33 finalists. Well done to everyone that competed, it was a great weekend with some fantastic swims and lots of personal best times.
