City of Sheffield Swim Squad Ellie Faulkner Selected for FINA 10K Marathon and Wins Top Award
Senior Elite swimmer Ellie Faulkner (16) has been selected to represent Great Britain in the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup 2009 in the United Arab Emirates. As part of a series of events, Ellie will be taking part in two 10K races. The first is to be held in Dubai on 17th October and the second race takes place in Sharjah on 21st October.
After the introduction of the 10K event in the Olympic programme, the 10K World Cup is more than ever at the centre of the Open Water Swimming activities and attracts the disciplines’ best athletes.
To be selected is a fantastic achievement for Ellie – well done and good luck!!
Ellie has also won the OCS Young Sports Person of the Year 2009 for the North East Region. Ellie was shortlisted after her outstanding performances at the European Junior Championships and the National Championships this year.
Ellie will be attending the Award Ceremony in November at the Brit Oval where the overall OCS Young Sports Person of the Year 2009 will be announced.
