Open Water National Championships

The British ASA Open Water National Age Group and Youth Championships took place at Rother Valley on Monday 27th July under a sky of sunshine and showers! In the morning session the City of Sheffield Swim Squad had Ellie Faulkner (16) competing in the 1750m 15/16 years category and Aynsley Heseltine (17) competing in the 2000m 17-24 years category. Ellie Faulkner was the clear winner in the 15/16 years race in 21.08.45. Aynsley finished 2nd in the 17-24 years race in 24.22.10.

The afternoon session saw swimmers from the National Age Group squad Joe Faulkner (14), Matthew Johnson (14), Alex Watson (14), Kate Yeoman (14), Molly Grayson (13), Ellie Pollard (12) and Freya Mitchell (12) all competing in Open Water for the first time. Both boys and girls events were contested over 1500m. Matthew Johnson won his 11th National Age Group Championship title winning the 14 years category in 17.53.76. Ellie Pollard won her 1st National Age Group Championship title in the 12 year category in 20.23.25 with Freya Mitchell winning Silver in 20.47.99. In the 13 year category Molly Grayson won Bronze in 20.19.44.
