City of Sheffield Swim Squad Arthur Downing Retires
Arthur Downing has announced his retirement from swimming this weekend.
This brings to an end a fantastic career of one of the best Youth swimmers in Great Britain. Arthur has won over 10 National medals, including 6 Golds. Along the way, he has also broken 2 National records and has represented GB on two occasions.
He has always been fully committed to training, and is one of the most focussed and dedicated athletes I have worked with in my 15 years of coaching. He has been the heartbeat of the squad for the past 5 years and will be sorely missed.
On behalf of myself and everyone at COSSS, I want to wish Arthur the best of luck as he moves onto the next page of his life, and he has assured me that he will still be around as he de-trains, and will be helping with coaching the younger squads.
