Yorkshire Senior/Juniors 2007

City of Sheffield Swim Squad rounded off a hard but successful period of winter training at the Yorkshire Junior and Senior Championships this weekend (3/4th Feb) with a large medal haul and multiple awards.

We won:-

24 golds (Mens 4x50m Freestyle team, Womens 4x50m Medley A Team, Chris Middleton x4, Rebecca Turner x3, James Kirton x3, Debbie Hall x3, Andrew Shepherd x3, Jack Dunn x2, Charlotte Broadbent, Mens 4x50m Medley Team, Amy Spencer, Jordan Tomlinson)

17 silvers (Aynsley Heseltine, Amy Spencer x2, Charlotte Broadbent x2, Lucy Spencer x3, Jack Dunn, Rebecca Turner x4, Jack Dunn, Womens 4x50m Freestyle Team, Meg Turner)

10 bronzes (Aynsley Heseltine, Womens 4x50m Medley B Team, Jordan Tomlinson x2, Lucy Spencer x2, Lyndsey Whitmore, Dan Cocking, Jenny Starling, Tom Lightfoot)

Also, James Kirton, Andrew Shepherd and Debbie Hall were all awarded certificates by the Yorkshire President, for breaking Yorkshire records during 2006.  James Kirton’s award was particularly interesting, because he broke Adrian Moorhouse’s (1988 Olympic Gold medallist from City of Leeds) record.

A very successful weekend was rounded off by Charlotte Broadbent (16) being awarded the Adrian Moorhouse scholarship, which is an award for the best up and coming Junior swimmer in Yorkshire.

Congratulations to all swimmers involved.  You are a credit to yourselves and your club, and we are very proud of you!!
