Keith Downing Sponsored Swim

The City of Sheffield Swim Squad Junior Masters section, recently conducted a sponsored swim, to raise money for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Appeal.

The total amount raised came to an amazing £2,034.31

The swimmers took part in a week long sponsored swim, and through their efforts, and the very kind support from their family and friends, have now been able to raise this fantastic amount for the appeal.

This really demonstrates the love and affection that the swimmers have for Keith Downing, their squad coach for a number of years.  Everyone associated with the Squad, and other squads within CoSSS, are thinking about Keith, as he continues to undergo his treatment for cancer.

We are also grateful to the Senior Masters squad, and other CoSSS swimmers, coaches and parents, for their very kind donations made towards this appeal.

The money raised during the Keith Downing Sponsored Swim, will go towards the Cancer Appeal’s £1 million Rose Appeal, to help fund the brand new Chemotherapy Suite at Weston Park Hospital. The Appeal is raising the final few pounds towards the Chemotherapy suite which opened last month.  This is now providing 30 places for treatment, compared to 6 places in the old unit, helping more and more cancer patients receive treatment and, importantly, helping to reduce waiting times.

Many thanks to all swimmers who took part, what a fantastic effort! Also, thanks to Dave Naughton for co-ordinating the event.

All our thoughts and best wishes are with Keith at this time…we love you mate!!
