Barnsley Minors Round 1

Last Sunday, 7th April, was the first round of the Barnsley Minors league at the Spenborough Pool & Leisure Centre. The Barnsley Minors League is a yearly competition with 4 divisions. Each division features 4 teams and each team hosts a round. The top team after the 4th round wins the division and moves into the division above or wins the entire league. Team Steel are currently in the 3rd division, but with a performance such as the one from the weekend we will definitely be fighting for the top spot in our division.
Team Steel’s rising stars take centre stage at home gala

From the 29th to the 31st March City of Sheffield Swim Squad hosted their annual Premier Meet which was again a huge success for the club and the swimmers. 80 Clubs from around the country came to the Steel City, and a total of 697 swimmers were packed into Ponds Forge. The steel history of Sheffield is well known in swimming and City of Sheffield Swim Squad is often referred to as Team Steel amongst the swimming community. Over the weekend Team Steel took home 36 gold, 37 silver and 21 bronze medals, with 66 swimmers qualifying for a final. The date of the Premier Meet means it is ideal to qualify for the British and English Nationals in summer, as it sits perfectly in the qualifying window. With these results the Team Steel swimmers put themselves in a great position to qualify for the Nationals in July and August.

Masters Maltby and Calverton Reports

It was an extremely busy weekend on March 22nd and 23rd for our Masters swimmers. We had a 13 strong team competing in the Maltby Team Gala on Saturday and 5 swimmers raced at the CABSC Meet in Hucknall on the Sunday.

March Madness Report

Last weekend CoSSS hosted it's March Madness competition, with the weather seeming to want to join in with March Madness itself. The stage was set for the Team Steel swimmers from JO1, JO2, JO3 and Regional squad to show off their racing skills.
Masters North West Champs
- Details
In Masters swimming any swimmer can partake in County and Regional Championships, allowing swimmers to continuously compete in high level meets all season round and push themselves to new personal bests. 5 City of Sheffield Masters swimmers crossed the Yorkshire border on their way to Blackpool for the Masters North West Championships for exactly that reason. Jonathan Saunders, Tom Day, Wendy Figures, Harriet Smith and Ryan Borthwick all swam for Team Steel achieving 3 Golds, 5 Silvers and 6 Bronzes.
Yorkshire Champs Weekend 3

The third and final weekend of the Yorkshires took place at Ponds Forge this time. 50m sprints, the 800 freestyle and a lot of action-packed relays were scheduled. Team Steel was showing no tiredness and kept the medals coming in. With 13 golds, 7 silvers, 7 bronzes and 56 top ten finishes the long course Yorkshire Championships came to a close this year in style.
