North East Region Age Groups

After the great performance from the Youth and Senior swimmers at the North East Regionals (NER) it was the turn of the Age group swimmers from Junior Elite and JO1. The NERs for the Age groups is divided into two weekends, both held in Leeds. Team Steel managed to impress with 7 gold medals, 15 silver medals and 16 bronze medals in total over the two weekends.
North East Youth and Senior

After the success of the British Championships many of our swimmers had a few days off, but it wasn’t long until we saw them back again in action at the North East Regions in Ponds Forge. For many of our Senior and Junior Elite swimmers this meet was to see what training will be required in the next few months to hit their peak again for the main summer competitions.

Starts and Turns Swim Camp

Starts & Turns Swim Camp – Saturday 6th July 2019
City of Sheffield Elite Squad Coaches will be running a One Day Starts & Turns Camp aimed at 8-14 year olds. International swimmers from the Senior Squad will be on hand to provide in water demonstrations. Training on using start wedges off the block and for backstroke starts, entry in and out of turns and improve rotational speeds. We will show you how the fastest swimmers do it!

This bespoke camp will be held at: Worksop College S80 3AP. Registration at 9.00am, Collection at 3.00pm. Drinks and sandwiches Included. Parents can come and watch.

British Championships Report

The British Championships 2019 took place from the 16.-22.04.2019 in Glasgow. This is the biggest meet on British soil and featured some of the UKs top swimming talent including Adam Peaty and Duncan Scott. City of Sheffield Swim Squad (Team Steel), was represented by 22 swimmers, some of whom were targeting this meet as their main competition and trying to qualify for the World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, and the under 18s for the World Junior Championships in Budapest and the European Junior Championships in Kazan.
BOK Spring Open Meet

The final weekend in April saw JO3, JO2 and Regional squad travel to Huddersfield for the Borough of Kirklees Spring Open Meet. Despite difficult deck conditions, Team Steel took home 17 golds, 16 silvers and 19 bronzes. It was a great experience for the JO3 swimmers to get some racing under their belts, and to learn from the older swimmers. JO2 raced really well and demonstrated the great skills they have been working on in training.
