We launched a new website in early 2022.  Take a look here.

Retirements - Lucy Spencer and Laura Whitaker

Lucy swam with us for over 10 years and called time on her swimming in the last cycle. She had a fantastic career and ended up as being Yorkshire and Club record holder on the 200 IM, which is a great achievement. She was such a tough trainer, and deserved all of the success she had, including multiple National medals, and 5th place at the Olympic Trials in 2012. She now works as a PT at Virgin Active, and we wish her well.

Laura moved to us from Rotherham Metro 5 years ago as a real rookie, but always had fantastic talent and perfect technique, and progressed very quickly. She won multiple National medals over the years, and is Club record holder on 50Fly. She was a valued member of the squad, and has agreed to help out coaching the next generation of youngsters coming through.

Laura Whitaker

Congratulations to both swimmers on a super career, and the club wishes you well.

Swimmers Leaving - Dave Gregory and Matthew Johnson

Dave Gregory was with us for 3 years, and progressed very well. He represented GB on numerous occasions, and is the current Club and Yorkshire record holder on his favoured backstroke events. He is now training at Stockport Metro Swimming Club.

Matt Johnson has left to go to University in Bath, after 5 years with the club. He has been a fantastic competitor for us, winning multiple National and International titles, including 7 medals at European Junior Championships, and a gold at the World Junior Champs. He also came 3rd at the Olympic Trials in 2012 on the 400 IM, narrowly missing the Olympic Team, and is club and Yorkshire record holder on 200 fly and 400 IM.

We wish both swimmers all the best moving forward in their careers.
